Palo Alto Networks Achieves Short List Status

On August 22nd, Network World (NWW) published the first ever next-generation firewall functionality and performance review and they used the PA-5060, running PAN-OS 4.0 for this inaugural event. The net result was 4 out of a possible 5 stars, a spectacular accomplishment. This was not a port-based firewall test - this was a true next-generation firewall test. Joel Snyder focused the NWW functionality tests on the next-generation criteria including visibility and control over applications, the ability to tie users into policy and visibility, and the ability to inspect the content for threats. For performance testing, David Newman, one of the most respected performance testers around used a proven evaluation methodology, a set of criteria that are the most strenuous we've seen in nearly 10 years of firewall product reviews. All tests were performed using HTTP with a mix of payloads as well as static HTTP traffic (10kb and 512kb response sizes). Don't take our word for it - check out the results for yours lf.
